The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) successfully organized the 2nd SME Working Group Meeting under the BRICS Partnership for the New Industrial Revolution (PARTNIR) Track on the theme “Enhancing Technology Access for MSMEs”. The meeting brought together representatives from BRICS member countries to discuss strategies for strengthening innovation, technology adoption and skill development in the MSME sector. Led by the Ministry of MSME under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, the SME Working Group serves as a platform for advancing collaboration among member nations. As part of its presidency agenda, India will host three SME Working Group Meetings and the first BRICS MSME Forum, focusing on key areas such as access to finance, technology access and sustainability-oriented growth for MSMEs. The second meeting, held on May 26, 2026, followed the inaugural session conducted on April 24, 2026.
Discussions during the meeting focused on leveraging innovation and technology commercialization for MSMEs, as well as developing industry-ready human resources capable of supporting technology adoption. Participating countries exchanged experiences, policy approaches and best practices to address common developmental challenges. The deliberations highlighted the critical contribution of MSMEs to economic growth, employment generation, innovation and inclusive development. Member countries emphasized the need to improve digital inclusion, strengthen innovation ecosystems and enhance technological readiness to facilitate deeper integration of MSMEs into regional and global value chains. The meeting also underscored the importance of stronger cooperation in technology access, skill development and innovation-led growth. The successful and productive discussions reinforced the collective commitment of BRICS nations to build a more resilient, inclusive and globally competitive MSME sector.
