According to Nokia's mBit study, 10 million 5G devices are already operating in India as the government prepares for 5G spectrum auctions. India saw the largest growth in mobile broadband subscribers over the previous five years in 2021, with the total number of users tripling over that time. India already has 765 million mobile broadband customers. 90% of Indians prefer to consume material in their own language, and short-form video digital advertising might account for up to 20% of the country's digital advertising industry by 2030. 5G services will earn $9 billion in revenue by 2021. 5G will generate 1% of global GDP or US$ 1.3 trillion in income by 2030. Healthcare, utilities, media applications, manufacturing, and smart cities will be among the most important use cases.
4G data traffic is expected to climb by 31% in 2021, with the typical user utilising 17 GB of 4G mobile data each month. In 2021, India added over 40 million new users, including those who upgraded to 4G. In addition, 4G accounted for virtually 99% of the data traffic generated in India. The rise in numbers is also linked to an increase in the number of 4G devices shipped. In 2021, India will have more than 160 million smartphones and 30 million 5G devices. According to the survey, active 4G devices accounted for more than 80% of the total, while 5G devices accounted for more than 10 million.
