According to Mr. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, India's outstanding economic scale and market potential have played a significant role in enabling start-ups to flourish and thrive in the global startup ecosystem. While addressing the ‘Startup20 Shikhar’ in Gurugram, Haryana, Mr. Piyush Goyal stated that in order to solve global concerns, there must be a global effort to foster inclusive, supportive, and sustainable startup ecosystems in all parts of the world.
The Minister emphasised the significance of the G20 meetings on startups and stated that the emphasis must be on facilitating the exchange of ideas, best practices, and funding mechanisms as well as promoting collaboration in research and development.
The Minister praised the Startup20 Engagement Group and stated that this engagement of diverse experiences and knowledge is aimed to foster collaboration and bridge gaps between countries. According to the Minister, India is excited to collaborate with its partner countries through Startup20 and is still committed to exchanging ideas and working as a team to support the upcoming generation of job creators who are redefining the future.
He made the point that India is in a unique position because of its demographic dividend, which has a huge talent and expertise which is appealing to start-ups. He claimed that India has an exceptional startup culture and a sizable market potential, both of which are very advantageous for start-ups.
Mr. Piyush Goyal added that India, a relatively recent participant in the startup ecosystem, has already risen to become the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world.
Furthermore, it was also highlighted that over the past seven years, India's 100,000 registered startups-including more than 100 unicorns, have significantly impacted a variety of industries, including health, finance, and agriculture. They have also created employment possibilities and sparked innovation in a variety of industries.
