India’s Software Services Exports Rise 8.2% to US$ 221.4 Billion in FY26: RBI

India’s software services exports increased 8.2% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs. 19.57 lakh crore (US$ 221.40 billion) in FY26, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) annual survey on computer software and Information Technology-enabled Services (ITeS) exports. The survey covered 7,569 software export companies, of which 2,363 companies, including most large companies, responded. These respondents accounted for around 89% of total estimated software services exports. Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services remained the dominant component of ITeS exports. The US remained the largest destination for India’s software exports, accounting for 54.1% of total exports, followed by Europe at 31.8% and the UK at 15.4%. Software services were predominantly delivered through the off-site mode, which accounted for 91.7% of exports.
Total software services exports, including services delivered through overseas commercial presence, increased 9.5% to Rs. 21.15 lakh crore (US$ 239.30 billion) in FY26. The RBI survey also reported that the local software business of foreign affiliates of Indian companies increased to Rs. 1.58 lakh crore (US$ 17.90 billion) in FY26, from Rs. 1.20 lakh crore (US$ 13.90 billion) a year earlier. The US and the UK remained the major destinations for these services. The growth in software services exports highlights the continued importance of India’s technology services sector in global markets, while the increase in exports through overseas commercial presence reflects the expanding international operations of Indian software companies. The survey provides insights into the performance, geographical distribution and delivery modes of India’s software services exports and the country’s position in the global technology services market.
