India's start-ups are setting global benchmarks

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, India's start-ups and R&D outcomes are setting global benchmarks and are competing with the rest of the world. Additionally, he added, India's start-up environment has ranked number one globally under Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. He was addressing the Sree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Grants Award Ceremony instituted by the Sree Padmavathi Venkateswara Foundation, in New Delhi.

The Minister called for cultivating synergy between all stakeholders such as academia, start-ups, research institutions, and industry to reap the benefits of collective efforts.

India needs to take the lead in scientific R&D, the Minister said. By 2025, the Government hopes to have tuberculosis (TB) free India. The Department of Biotechnology created the first DNA-based vaccine in history during the Covid pandemic, he added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the Sree Padmavathi Venkateswara Foundation for honouring emerging scientists. During the event, he presented the Paramahamsa Grants Awards in Biomedical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.
