India’s Toffee Exports Rise 166% Since FY14 as Global Demand for ‘Made in India’ Confectionery Expands

India’s exports of toffees, caramels and similar confectionery products have witnessed significant growth over the past decade, reflecting the rising global appeal of Indian food and consumer brands. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal stated that exports in the category increased by nearly 166% from Rs. 49.68 crore (US$ 8.14 million) in FY2013-14 to Rs. 132 crore (US$ 15.15 million) in FY2025-26. Sharing the figures on social media platform X, the Minister described the development as a “toffee tale” and highlighted that the increasing international demand for Indian confectionery products demonstrates the growing strength of “Made in India” brands in global markets. The growth also reflects broader expansion across India’s processed food and FMCG export ecosystem, supported by improving product quality, stronger branding and wider international market access.

The development gained additional attention during Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s visit to Rome, where he gifted Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Ms. Giorgia Meloni during a bilateral interaction. The gesture attracted significant public attention and highlighted the growing global recognition of Indian consumer products and brands. Public engagements between the two leaders at international forums have frequently generated strong interest, further enhancing India’s cultural and consumer brand visibility internationally. Industry experts noted that rising global awareness of Indian consumer products could create additional export opportunities across confectionery, packaged foods and branded FMCG segments.
