On June 29, 2022, India and Saudi Arabia held extensive talks to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. It is understood that both sides investigated the possibility of cooperation between their respective defence firms. According to officials, the main goal of the discussions was to expand overall defence and security cooperation between the two sides.

Officials said the talks were held in Delhi and co-chaired by Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mr. Dinesh Kumar and Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Defense and Strategic Affairs Mr. Ahmed A Aseeri. The India-Saudi Arabia Joint Committee on Defense Cooperation met for the fifth time. The meeting came four months after Saudi Arabia's land forces commander, Lt Gen Fahd Bin Abdullah Mohammed Al-Mutair, paid a visit to India. It was the first visit to India by a serving Royal Saudi land forces commander, signalling a strengthening of bilateral defence cooperation.
