India should emerge world leader in post-Covid global order said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and called for surging ahead with a focused approach setting targets for ourselves for 2047. He addressed the second meeting of the national committee on 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' and stated that the pandemic has taught new lessons, shattered existing structures which will lead to the emergence of a “new world order”. He added that the 21st century belongs to Asia and stated the importance of focus on India’s stature. He added that the current generation will be at the helm in 2047, when the country celebrates 100 years of independence and stated the necessity of deciding what to inculcate in them to enable them to make big contributions.

He stated that there is higher greatness in following duties than in fighting for our rights, as following duties religiously automatically ensures rights of others. He called for a commitment of duty as the utmost priority and the pledge to contribute meaningfully to the country as the main resolve. He stated that the future is born from the acts of the past and insisted on remembering the sacrifices of our forefathers, freedom fighters and the unsung heroes of the freedom movement.  The meeting was attended by eminent personalities such as Union ministers, governors, chief ministers, political leaders, media, film personalities, artists, among others, and included a presentation from on overview of activities of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, being held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, by Culture Ministry Secretary, Mr. Govind Mohan.
