India and Sweden have further enhanced their bilateral relationship in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies by signing a Statement of Intent (SoI) on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The SoI was signed between the IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden to improve cooperation in the areas of development, application, and deployment of AI solutions. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the SoI offers a structured approach to support innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development in the application of AI. The initiative reflects the increasing role of international collaborations in the development of emerging technologies.

As part of this partnership, both nations will work together to develop the Sweden-India Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor (SITAC), a flagship initiative to facilitate engagement among government entities, industry, startups, and academia. The partnership will involve activities such as conferences, workshops, ecosystem exchanges, and joint innovation initiatives to promote trade, investment, and technological cooperation. It is also expected to facilitate knowledge sharing, research collaboration, and capacity-building in emerging technologies. The partnership is built on the long-standing relationship between India and Sweden and on their shared priorities for the use of AI across industrial and societal use cases, while also promoting responsible, inclusive, and scalable innovation in the digital economy.
