India, Thailand discuss boosting trade, investment and AITIGA review

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal met Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun in New Delhi to discuss deepening bilateral trade and investment, strengthening business-to-business ties and advancing the review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA). The meeting, held at Vanijya Bhawan, focused on strengthening the India-Thailand economic partnership through greater collaboration, expanded business opportunities and stronger private-sector linkages. Mr. Piyush Goyal and Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun discussed measures to increase bilateral trade and investment through collaboration and co-creating solutions to support balanced and sustainable growth, while stressing the importance of strengthening trade promotion activities in both countries to expand business networks and create new market opportunities.
The ministers reviewed progress on the AITIGA review and emphasised the need for deeper engagement through the India-Thailand Joint Trade Committee in a time-bound manner, underlining the importance of a balanced and mutually beneficial trade framework to improve market access. Mr. Piyush Goyal and Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun also interacted with a delegation of Thai businesses operating across sectors including space technology, cold-chain logistics, food processing, innovation, and health and wellness. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen economic engagement, strengthen business partnerships and build a robust, balanced and mutually beneficial trade and investment relationship, building on their longstanding civilisational, cultural and strategic ties.
