India plans to add 100-150 satellites over the next three years to enhance border security and coastal surveillance, as announced by the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Mr. V Narayanan. Currently, India operates around 55 satellites, which are insufficient for comprehensive surveillance considering the country’s vast borders and 7,500-kilometer coastline. Mr. V Narayanan, who also serves as the Secretary of the Department of Space (DoS), explained that the reforms introduced by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in the space sector, which allow private players to participate in the development of rockets and satellites, will support the expansion of satellite infrastructure.

He highlighted ISRO’s recent achievements, including the successful second docking of satellites as part of its SpaDeX mission, making India one of only four nations—along with the United States, Russia, and China—to achieve this feat. He further discussed ongoing projects, including developing a satellite to study climate change, primarily serving G20 countries, with India contributing 50% of the payload. Additionally, he touched on ISRO's role in providing technological advancements for monitoring national security. At the same event, the Co-founder of Kauvery Hospital, Mr. Aravindan Selvaraj, introduced Artificial Intelligence-powered robotic technology for advanced brain and spine surgeries, emphasising its cost-effectiveness and the ability to enhance patient care through detailed records.
