The fifth round of negotiations for the India-UK Free Trade Agreement has been concluded, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on August 11. The Ministry anticipates the FTA negotiations to be concluded by the end of October, according to the press statement.

The fifth round of FTA negotiations took place in a hybrid format, with some teams meeting in person in New Delhi and the remainder of participants participating virtually. In 85 different sessions, the technical specialists addressed 15 policy topics and came up with a comprehensive draught treaty for discussion. The specialists were from both the UK and India.

The majority of commerce between India and the UK is in services, which makes up around 70% of all trade. By the end of this decade, both nations want to double their bilateral trade to US$ 100 billion.
