According to a statement released by the Indian government on Monday, India and the US have agreed to revamp their strategic energy partnership to reflect on greater cooperation in cleaner energy sectors such as biofuels and hydrogen production.

After a virtual meeting between Indian oil minister, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan and US Energy Secretary Ms. Jennifer Granholm, the statement was released.

The two countries will step up their efforts to take advantage of advanced American technologies as well as India's rapidly expanding energy market, according to the statement.

Last month, the US surpassed Saudi Arabia as India's second largest oil supplier, after Iraq.
