India and the United States have been increasing their dialogue efforts to enhance an India-US Energy Corridor, focusing on India’s energy requirements driven by growth in a high-level roundtable meeting in Houston. Organized by the India Consulate in Houston and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) as part of the Global Energy Outlook 2026, the behind-closed-doors meeting saw over 30 senior executives from major energy, engineering, and technology companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Honeywell, GAIL, Larsen & Toubro, Weatherford, and S&P Global in attendance. The objective was to identify common challenges, investment opportunities, and policy options that can help support joint efforts in the long term.
Consul General Mr. D.C. Manjunath emphasized that India’s ambition to sustain its fast-paced economic expansion is dependent on the availability of secure, assured, and diversified sources of energy, which must be at the forefront of the country’s development strategy. The meeting highlighted the immediate focus on the development of LNG and natural gas infrastructure, increased power production capacity, enhanced transmission infrastructure, and the promotion of cleaner technologies and digital innovation in the energy sector value chain to cater to the increasing demand from the manufacturing and data centre sectors. The roundtable meeting also followed up on the February 2026 India-US trade framework, which had shortlisted energy and technology collaboration as key to the economic expansion of both countries.
