The Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geospatial Cooperation (Beca) was signed on Tuesday by India and the US, which will give India access to crucial information that will have implications for any future military conflict, a person familiar with the matter said.

These provide access to a variety of topographical, nautical and aeronautical data considered crucial to mapping hostile movements, as well as reliable and real-time information on enemy positions accessed during any possible border conflict by US military satellites.

After India and the US conducted their third 2 + 2 negotiations, the signing of the pact took place. The agreement is a strengthening of military ties, a testimony to the steady warming over two decades of bilateral relations.
