India, Vietnam explore coalition to support economic development, security

India and Vietnam convened the 12th session of Political Consultations and the ninth round of Strategic Dialogue, exploring new potential for partnership to assist each other's economic development and national security. Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Secretary (East), MEA, co-chaired the Foreign Ministry Political Consultations and Strategic Dialogue with his counterpart from Vietnam, Vice Foreign Minister Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu. He expressed India's willingness to continue providing development and capacity-building support to Vietnam through programmes such as Quick Impact Projects, ITEC and e-ITEC projects, PhD fellowships, digital connectivity, and heritage protection.

Both sides reviewed recent developments in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is guided by the "Joint Vision for Peace, Prosperity, and People" adopted by Prime Ministers of both India and Vietnam during their Virtual Summit in December 2020, as well as the Plan of Action for 2021-2023 signed by Foreign Ministers of both countries. The two sides also addressed future cooperation priorities, such as high-level exchanges and initiatives to commemorate India-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations' 50th anniversary this year.
