On Thursday, India and Vietnam pledged to expand military-to-military alliance and decided to boost collaboration in the area of defence industry and technology.
In an online discussion between Defence Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh and his Vietnamese counterpart, Sr Lt Gen. Phan Van Giang, methods to further strengthen alliances were considered under the framework of the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The defence ministry stated the two ministers evaluated the development on the present projects and conveyed dedication to further develop commitments between the defence forces of the two countries.
It said, "The ministers decided to commence methods to boost collaboration in the defence industry and the technology area and look forward to bigger synergy in efficiently strengthen bilateral engagements across the spectrum.”
It said both countries look forward to resolving the ‘Joint Vision Statement 2021-25’ at the quickest chance.
Mr. Singh tweeted, “Had a brilliant conversation with the Defence Minister of Vietnam, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phan Van Giang today. India and Vietnam have a solid and efficient alliance. India connects enormous significance to bilateral defence collaboration with Vietnam.”
He said, "Both India and Vietnam reflect a long-standing practice of assisting each other in challenging times. In the recent years, we have accomplished considerable development in defence industry alliance in recent years.”
The defence ministry said the two ministers conveyed pride at the current activities between the two countries, amid the challenges and restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
