India, Zimbabwe review ties, exchange views on global developments

During the second round of Foreign Office Consultations conducted in New Delhi on Thursday, India and Zimbabwe examined their multifaceted bilateral relationship, including political exchanges, development partnership initiatives, and defence and security cooperation.

The Zimbabwean side was led by Mr. R.M. Faranisi, Chief Director of Economic Cooperation, International Trade and Diaspora in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, and the Indian side was led by Mr. Puneet R. Kundal, Joint Secretary (East & Southern Africa).

According to a statement from the External Affairs Ministry, the two sides reviewed their bilateral relations thoroughly and expressed a desire to strengthen them for the mutual benefit of both nations. Additionally, the delegates talked about ways to improve cooperation in a range of fields, including trade and investment, development partnerships, defence, consular matters, agriculture, health, and railways, among others.

In order to maintain the partnership's vitality and mutual benefit, India and Zimbabwe's sides decided to continue high-level political discussions and routine meetings of the joint institutional bodies.
