Indian airlines carried 14.5 million passengers in March 2025, marking an 8.79% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In March 2024, Indian carriers had transported 13.3 million passengers. The report revealed that domestic airlines collectively carried 14.542 million passengers in March 2025, up from 13.368 million in the previous year.
IndiGo maintained its dominant position, flying 9.31 million passengers, capturing a 64% market share. The Air India Group, comprising Air India and Air India Express, carried 3.88 million passengers, securing a 26.7% market share. Akasa Air and SpiceJet followed, with 7,20,000 and 4,80,000 passengers, respectively, holding 5% and 3.3% market shares. IndiGo also led in on-time performance (OTP), achieving 88.1% for March 2025, followed by Akasa Air at 86.9%, Air India Group at 82%, and SpiceJet at 72.1%. OTP data was gathered from four major metro airports: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
