Indian airlines are gearing up for the summer schedule starting March 31, with a notable increase of nearly 6% in weekly domestic flights compared to the previous year. IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara are among the carriers expanding their operations, while SpiceJet plans to reduce departures. International connections will extend to 37 countries from 27 domestic airports, with a 5.1% rise in weekly international flights. Akasa Air's upcoming overseas operations add anticipation, pending finalization with the DGCA.

The summer schedule outlines 24,275 weekly domestic departures across 125 airports, including newly proposed ones. IndiGo aims for a 13.82% increase, while Air India, Vistara, and Akasa Air plan moderate expansions. Air India and Vistara show growth in the international segment, while SpiceJet reduces its flights. As the civil aviation market continues to grow, challenges in the supply chain and engine issues persist, leading to the grounding of several aircraft.
