Indian consumers are now demanding high-quality goods and services: Mr. Piyush Goyal

According to Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles and Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, Indian customers are now demanding high-quality goods and services, and the government is assisting producers in adapting to new quality requirements and ensuring that India is recognised as a provider of high-quality products.

While speaking at the final session of the 'G20 Standards Dialogue' at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Mr. Goyal stated that it is critical to ensure standardisation with international entities to assist India in adopting globally accepted standards. He added that India needs to get out of the attitude of having two standards for everything. Mr. Goyal stated, "Our effort is that every product that is made in India will be a high-quality product".

According to Mr. Goyal, buyers should be assured of great quality if they purchase a product in India. He stated that developed countries have a lot to give in this area and that a strong framework should be constructed for the countries that need it through frequent engagements such as the G20 Standards Dialogue. He stated that in the coming years, India will update its standards ecosystem, such as test labs, and that it hopes to establish mutual recognition agreements with other nations as well, in order to attain quality for a better and brighter future for Mother Earth and every person of the world.

Mr. Goyal stated that the concept of the Dialogue, 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect,' was expressed nearly 9 years ago by Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

He stated that the PM is an enthusiast for sustainability and has been at the forefront of raising awareness about the need for collective action both within the country and abroad. He stated that it is his aim for sustainability to become a unified perspective of the world.

Mr. Goyal emphasised that even the average man knows the necessity of sustainable progress and that every citizen recognises that growth must be inclusive so that no one is left behind. He stated that the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are also essential in providing a path for standards and sustainability.

“And I'm sure the goal for Zero Hunger, the goal for health and wellness, the goal for a better quality of life for every citizen will be important for all of us to keep in mind when we debate on this important subject-Affordable Clean Energy,” Mr. Goyal said.

The Union Minister stated that Affordable Clean Energy is a vital aspect of sustainable growth in which India is looking at recycling, reusing, and overall ensuring that 'waste can be kept to a bare minimum', which is unavoidable.

"That is the road forward. That is the pathway before us," he added, adding that the government simply wants to be a facilitator, not a disrupter of the processes.
