Indian students in the UK surpass all countries: British High Commissioner

According to the British High Commissioner, Mr. Alex Ellis said that the Indian students in the UK outnumber students from all other nations, including China, during a notable public speech on India-UK relations at O P Jindal Global University (JGU).

He added that “The degree of human connection between our two countries is extraordinary, yet there is potential to take the India-UK relationship to a deeper and profound level”.

The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom visited OP JGU for the first time and addressed students of international affairs, law, and other disciplines, providing them with a diplomatic and strategic overview of the two nations' relationship.

He further said that “We are the 5th and 6th biggest economies in the world, India will grow to be the 3rd in the world by 2030. We are trying to negotiate a free trade agreement (FTA) and it's quite important that we look at the economic value it gives but also the strategic values”.

He also discussed the geopolitical strategic imperatives that will shape the India-UK relationship.
