A two-day joint secretary-level meeting of the India-Nepal Inter-Governmental Sub-Committee started on Thursday to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations.
India in Nepal tweeted, “The two-day meeting of the Inter-Governmental Sub-Committee on Trade and Transit between India and Nepal started today. This meeting, which will take place at the level of the Joint Secretary, will review and identify a way forward for further strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations.”
Recently, Foreign Secretary Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who visited Kathmandu for a two-day visit, said that India and Nepal had significant ties and would seek to advance the relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Shringla also met with Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Nepal's foreign minister, and Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyel, his Nepalese counterpart.
Mr. Shringla said India's relationship with Nepal rests on four pillars: cooperation in growth, stronger connectivity, expanded infrastructure and economic ventures, and easier and better access for young people in Nepal to educational opportunities in India.
