On September 9, Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, stated that a strong Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) is being proposed and will be soon presented in the Parliament. India will make decisions regarding various issues in accordance with national interest, he added.
India is a significant supplier of technological services to US corporations. He continued, "India is seeking to have cutting-edge, modern rules in the digital realm while upholding high standards of data privacy."
Mr. Goyal is in San Francisco and Los Angeles for six days to attend the first ministerial gathering of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). Prior to the meeting, he met with Ms. Katherine Tai, the US Trade Representative. She noted that the IPEF offered a chance to strengthen relationships with members while also tackling problems as a group.
On May 23, 2022, in Tokyo, the US and other Indo-Pacific partner nations jointly announced the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). 13 nations make up the multilateral economic framework known as IPEF. India is committed to the development of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, and would endeavour to strengthen economic ties between allies in the interest of the area's expansion and prosperity.
