Information and Broadcasting Minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw said India’s economic growth is gaining global recognition, with the country growing at a rate of 6-8%, supported by four key pillars: investment in social, digital and physical infrastructure, inclusive growth and a strong focus on manufacturing. Addressing the Uttar Pradesh-Japan Investment Summit 2026 in New Delhi, he said sustained public investment has become an important part of India’s growth journey, with annual public investment reaching around Rs. 12.40 lakh crore (US$ 130 billion). India’s infrastructure expansion includes 99.6% electrification of the railway network, the addition of around 38,000 km of railway lines over the last decade and the introduction of 162 semi-high-speed trains. The country has also developed the world’s second-largest road network, with around 65,000 km of highways added, while the number of airports has doubled over the last decade.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath said the India-Japan partnership is based on shared growth, technology and prosperity, while Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of India’s top three economies and a growth engine for the country. Over the past nine years, the state has nearly tripled its budget and per capita income, supported by a focus on security, stability and development. More than 96 lakh MSME units, 35,000 large industries and 22,000 startups are contributing to the state’s economic growth. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the Government’s focus on increasing agricultural production and positioning India as a global food supplier. He emphasised the role of farm mechanisation in reducing agricultural production costs and the importance of ensuring that research and technological innovations reach farmers. The discussions also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s potential as a hub for global investment and the strengthening of India-Japan cooperation through technology, investment and shared economic development.
