ISRO: Chandrayaan-3 just a start, India promises to put man on the moon by 2040: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing and Urban Affairs Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri

On December 15, 2023 Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing and Urban Affairs Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri articulated that Chandryaan 3 marks the commencement of India's lunar exploration endeavors, emphasizing the nation's commitment to achieving a manned lunar mission by the year 2040. In his press conference address, he affirmed the government's unequivocal support for the space sector, highlighting the Gaganyaan projects aimed at demonstrating human space flight capabilities. Furthermore, he outlined India's overarching vision of attaining developed country status by 2047 in the Amrit Kaal initiative.

The Gaganyaan project is designed to demonstrate India's human spaceflight capabilities by launching a three-member crew into a 400 km orbit for a 3-day mission, culminating in a safe return to Earth with a landing in Indian waters. Upon successful completion, India will join the ranks of the US, Russia, and China as the fourth nation to conduct a manned spaceflight mission.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi extended congratulations to the Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) for achieving yet another significant technological milestone in space exploration. In a separate achievement, the Propulsion Module of Chandrayaan-3 successfully navigated a detour, showcasing a unique experiment wherein the module transitioned from to Earth's orbit.
