According to the latest subscriber data released by the telecom regulator, Reliance Jio has further cemented its market leadership in the country's fiber-based home broadband turf in a neck-and-neck competition that has also seen Bharti Airtel overtake state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) to become the No. 2 wired broadband player.

In December 2021, Jio added 0.18 million JioFibre customers, bringing its total fixed broadband users to 4.6 million. Airtel, managed by Mr. Sunil Mittal, added 0.12 million users, bringing its total home broadband consumers to 4.2 million. Despite the steep pricing hikes implemented in late November, India's telecom industry leader added the most active mobile users among the top telcos in December 2021. Jio also maintained its lead in terms of total active users and active user share ratings.
