Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) reported an 11.86% YoY increase in container traffic for October, handling 614,651 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up from 549,487 TEUs in the same month last year. The port also experienced a slight increase in total cargo handled, reaching 7.62 million tonnes in October 2024, which is a 2.26% rise compared to the previous year.
For the first seven months of the fiscal year, JNPA recorded a total container traffic growth of 13.12%, totalling 4,142,134 TEUs. The overall cargo volume during this period amounted to 52.42 million tonnes, reflecting a YoY growth of 5.6%. The port also noted that it handled 562 container rakes in October, slightly up from 555 rakes in the previous year, indicating a stable performance in its operations.
