Job market to bounce back as campus hirings improve in 2025: Deloitte report

Campus hiring rebounded strongly in the 2025 placement season, with pre-placement offer conversions rising by 24% on average across all degree programmes, according to Deloitte’s Campus Workforce Trends Report 2025, based on data from over 200 organisations and 500 campuses. Compensation grew 3.9% in FY25 compared to the previous year, with manufacturing and consumer sectors leading salary growth, while MBA salaries grew the least at 1.6%. Campus hiring budgets increased 15% to Rs. 4.41 crore (US$ 513,806), reflecting renewed corporate focus on emerging talent.
Technology remains the top preferred sector for students, followed by financial services. However, a persistent skill gap remains as only 51% of Indian graduates are deemed job-ready due to inadequate vocational training and practical skills. Skill-based hiring is now key, with premium pay for skills in AI, machine learning, IoT, robotics, investment management, and financial modelling. Companies increasingly use AI-driven tools for candidate matching and engagement. To bridge skill gaps, universities and businesses emphasise internships, industry partnerships, alumni networks, and tailored training. Tier I and II campuses saw increased internship opportunities. However, Tier III institutions faced a 3% decline, highlighting growing disparities in access.
