Kharif crop sowing has crossed 733 lakh hectares of area

The progress of area coverage under kharif crops has been released by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare as of July 21, 2023.

The total area sown in 2023 (as of July 21) was 733.42 lakh hectare, as compared to 724.99 in the last year. Rice had the highest area coverage of 180.20 lakh hectare, followed by oilseeds (160.41 lakh hectare), Shri Anna cum coarse cereals (134.91 lakh hectare), and soybean (114.48 lakh hectare), among others.
