Khelo India reinforced spirit of Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat: PM Modi

Khelo India Youth Games 2021 concluded at the Indradhanush Stadium in Haryana. Haryana led the way with 137 medals (52 gold), followed by Maharashtra (125 medals - 45 gold) and Karnataka (67 medals - 22 gold). Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi delivered a special greeting on the occasion, saying that the players' talent and performance are a reflection of India's ever-expanding potential in the twenty-first century.

He said that, sports promotion under the new education policy emphasises the development of modern sports infrastructure. Today, the convergence of contemporary technology is fostering a thriving sports culture in India. The government is with the country's brilliant children at every stage, from the identification, selection, and training of potential in the realm of sports to the athletic needs of the athletes. He added that, this edition of Khelo India drew young players from all around the country, reinforcing the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Our hope is that our youngsters will continue to raise the country's honour and respect while freeing their emotions at the playground.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Mr. Anurag Thakur said there have been 12 new national records. He also noted several inspiring events and stories that occurred during the games, such as 17 weightlifters from the KIYG 2021 being chosen to represent India at the next Asian Youth and Junior Championship 2022, which will be held in Tashkent from July 15 to 26.
