Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) has informed that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business of L&T Construction has secured ‘significant’ engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) orders in India and overseas. The company classifies an order ranging between US$ 122-305 million (Rs. 1,000-2,500 crore) in size as a significant order.
An order for a power supply system for the second phase of the Chennai Metro has been received by Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T). For the northern portions of Corridors 3 and 5, the scope comprises designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning receiving substations (RSS), auxiliary substations (ASS), and a SCADA system. Furthermore, the company has secured orders to develop distribution infrastructure in two discom circles of western Rajasthan.
Additionally, the PT&D Business has received a contract to supply, build, test, and commission a 132kV substation in the UAE on the international market.
With the most recent contract secured under the Reforms-based Results-Linked Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) through the PT&D business, L&T hopes to significantly reduce the Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses at the pan-Indian level. In order to strengthen the distribution infrastructure, the corporation has committed to segregating feeders, reconductoring, cabling, and enhancing line networks and elements.
