LANXESS inks pact with HPCL to sell aviation, industrial lubricants in India, SAARC region

German speciality chemicals company LANXESS has entered a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to market aviation and industrial lubricants across India and the SAARC region. The agreement, signed through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aims to strengthen the availability of technologically advanced lubricant solutions in key industrial and aviation segments. The collaboration will explore short-term, medium-term and long-term business development and marketing opportunities while expanding local access to premium LANXESS-branded lubricants. The partnership reflects the growing demand for high-performance lubricants in India’s expanding aviation and industrial ecosystem.

According to LANXESS, the alliance with HPCL is expected to enhance standards and accessibility in the country’s rapidly growing aviation and industrial markets. Senior Vice President and Global Head of LANXESS Lubricant Additives business unit Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee stated that the collaboration would accelerate growth opportunities in India’s dynamic industrial landscape. LANXESS’ additives business offers a wide portfolio of synthetic base stocks, additives and finished fluids catering to aviation, automotive and industrial applications under multiple brands. HPCL Executive Director for Lubes, Mr. Srinivas Ch, highlighted that HPCL’s strong domestic market presence combined with LANXESS’ technical expertise would support expansion across aviation and industrial sectors. The partnership also underlines increasing collaboration between global speciality chemical companies and Indian energy firms to support industrial modernisation and supply chain efficiency in the region.
