The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilisation Policy 2025, aiming to boost drone manufacturing and its application across various sectors such as agriculture, logistics, security, and governance. The policy offers incentives, including a 40% capital investment subsidy, up to Rs. 30 crore (US$ 3.4 million) for new investments, and a 25% subsidy on lease rents for three years. Additional provisions include Rs. 2 crore (US$ 0.2 million) in Research and Development (R&D) grants, skill development incentives under the Chief Minister's Seekho-Kamao Yojana, and a waiver of stamp duty and registration fees for industrial land leases. The policy also supports patent filing, with the government covering Rs. 5 lakh (US$ 5,705) for domestic patents and Rs. 10 lakh (US$ 11,410) for international patents. The state expects an investment of Rs. 370 crore (US$ 42.2 million) in the sector over the next five years, creating 8,000 jobs.
Madhya Pradesh seeks to become a leader in the drone industry by leveraging drone technology for enhanced efficiency, cost reduction, and innovation. The state envisions drones being used for precision agriculture, including crop monitoring and pesticide spraying, improving productivity. Drones can enhance surveying, mapping, and reduce costs in logistics and infrastructure. Drones will also play a role in public safety through applications in surveillance, traffic monitoring, disaster management, and law enforcement. With 90% of Indian airspace designated as a "Green Zone" for drone operations, the sector is poised for significant growth, contributing to economic development, job creation, and improved service delivery in urban and rural areas.
