Maharashtra continues its investment momentum, signs deal worth INR 80,000 cr at WEF, Davos

The Maharashtra delegation attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022 in Davos, Switzerland and had a successful visit. The state signed over Rs. 80,000 crore (US$ 10.5 billion) in investment intentions with 24 companies, as well as three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) of strategic cooperation.

Renew Power will invest an astounding Rs. 50,000 crore (US$ 6 billion) in the state's Renewable Power generation of 10-12 GW, while Asia Pulp and Paper, an Indonesian firm, will invest Rs. 10,500 crore (US$ 1.5 billion) in the Raigad district.

Under the leadership of Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, 122 MoUs totalling Rs. 2.2 lakh crore (US$ 28.33 billion) have been signed-in the 10 editions of Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0, potentially generating 4 lakh job opportunities in the state. Between October 2019 and December 2021, Maharashtra received 26% of total FDI, the highest in India.

The state also signed an MoU with the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) and launched the Maharashtra Plastic Action Partnership (Maharashtra PAP), which will serve as a road map for the state's sustainable development. In addition, the state government signed an agreement with Byju's to implement digital content in Maharashtra's state and municipal schools.

Furthermore, the state signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the World Green Building Council to share knowledge and assist the state in meeting its net zero-emission targets and build the capacity of state authorities in Environmental Sustainability Governance.
