Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal told girl innovators on Monday to make 'vocal for local' a national movement and become quality ambassadors to help promote entrepreneurship in the country. On National Girl Child Day, he spoke with female innovators and encouraged them to encourage more girls to come forward and innovate.
"Each one of you should become ambassadors for quality... We would also like to encourage girl innovators from tier 2 and 3 cities," Goyal said. Innovators should also consider ways to promote Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and khadi products, according to the minister.
"These are just food for thought for all of you... Dream big, never ever fear failure. You learn from failure, you grow from failure. Failure is a stepping stone to success," he said. During the meeting, eight female inventors presented their proposals to the minister. Low-cost biodegradable sanitary napkins, smart gloves that convert sign language to text and speech, and the utilisation of artificial intelligence and GPS (Global Positioning System) were among the initiatives.
After three months, the projects will be presented to the Startup Advisory Council, he said.
