The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) announced that it is working hard to promote India's brand on a worldwide scale by highlighting its strengths in sustainability, ethical sourcing and manufacturing, labour standards, and women's employment.

The availability of cotton, jute, silk, and wool, as well as the second largest spinning and weaving capacity globally, gives the industry a 95% domestic value addition opportunity, according to Mr. Narendra Goenka, Chairman of AEPC.

A two-day Fashion Meet Expo 2022 has been organised by the city council. Manufacturers, accessories providers, dyes, machine makers, startups, designers, buying agencies, exporters, and fashion institutes are all expected to attend the Expo, which aims to bring together the complete textile ecosystem from fibre to fashion.

Exports of ready-made garment totaled US$ 16 billion in 2021-22, up 30.4% from the previous year. The US, the European Union, Asia, and the Middle East are the main markets for Indian textiles and clothing exports.

According to the Council, the signing of free trade agreements with the UAE and Australia has increased export potential for the sector.
