Mansukh Mandaviya Announces Task Force to Assess Formula 1 Revival in India

Sports Minister Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the setting up of a 10-member task force to assess the challenges and feasibility of reviving Formula 1 in India. The task force will be headed by NITI Aayog Programme Director and Adviser Mr. Yugal Kishore Joshi, and will include Sports Ministry Joint Secretary Mr. Kunal and Mr. Arindam Ghosh, President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), along with representatives from the Departments of Tourism and Commerce and the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya said the terms of reference of the committee are to suggest comprehensive ways for the sustainable growth of motorsports in India and prepare a holistic, coordinated roadmap for the revival of Formula One, with the aim of hosting a race in 2028. Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya added that the task force will also carry out a detailed assessment of the challenges that may come in the way of reviving motorsports and identify the policy interventions required for this. India last hosted a Formula One race in 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
