Maruti Suzuki starts commercial production at second Kharkhoda plant

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has commenced commercial production at its second manufacturing plant at Kharkhoda in Haryana, further strengthening its production capacity amid rising domestic and export demand. The new facility started operations with an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units and will manufacture passenger vehicles for both Indian and overseas markets. The Kharkhoda manufacturing complex is a key part of the company’s long-term expansion strategy and is expected to play an important role in enhancing operational efficiency, supply chain integration and production flexibility. With the addition of the second plant, Maruti Suzuki continues to expand its manufacturing footprint to support growing demand for passenger vehicles across segments.

The Kharkhoda facility is being developed with advanced automation and sustainable manufacturing systems and is expected to contribute significantly to employment generation and industrial development in Haryana. Maruti Suzuki plans to gradually scale up production capacity at the Kharkhoda site to 10 lakh units annually over the coming years through multiple production lines. The expansion aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen India’s position as a global automobile manufacturing and export hub. India’s automobile sector has been witnessing sustained growth, supported by rising consumer demand, improving infrastructure, increasing localisation and strong export momentum. The latest production addition is also expected to support ancillary industries, component manufacturers and logistics networks linked to the automotive ecosystem. Maruti Suzuki remains India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer and continues to invest in capacity expansion, technology upgrades and cleaner mobility solutions to meet evolving market demand and future industry requirements.
