Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat’s Directorate of Employment and Training to establish Advanced Manufacturing Labs (AMLs) at five Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state. The labs will be set up at ITIs located in Palanpur, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Godhra and Dahod, with the objective of strengthening industry-linked skill development and equipping students with competencies required for modern automotive manufacturing. The initiative forms part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader strategy to develop a future-ready workforce capable of meeting the evolving requirements of India’s rapidly expanding automotive industry. Gujarat has emerged as a key manufacturing hub for the company, and the establishment of these labs is expected to support the state's growing industrial ecosystem by enhancing the quality of vocational training and technical education.
The Advanced Manufacturing Labs will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, practical exposure to modern manufacturing equipment and training aligned with industry standards. The company stated that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and workplace requirements, thereby improving the employability of students graduating from technical institutions. Maruti Suzuki currently supports 31 ITIs across India in manufacturing-related trades and has already established 18 Advanced Manufacturing Labs nationwide. With the addition of five new labs in Gujarat, the total number of AMLs supported by the company will increase to 23 across seven states and Union Territories. The initiative is expected to strengthen technical capabilities, foster industry-academia collaboration and contribute to the development of a skilled workforce that can support India's ambitions of becoming a global manufacturing and automotive hub.
