According to National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), milk purchases by farmer-owned milk producer businesses are expected to rise by over three times and reach Rs. 18,000 crore (US$ 2.27 billion) in value terms over the next five years.

At the end of the previous fiscal year, 18 of these 20 farmer-owned organisations were operating and were procuring more than 40 lakh litres of milk per day. In the next five years, it is expected that milk producing businesses will purchase 100 lakh litres of milk every day.

Through its subsidiary NDDB Dairy Services, NDDB will support the establishment of more milk producer enterprises nationwide, said Mr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NDDB.
