Mines Ministry approved US$ 18.7 million (Rs. 154.84 crores) to National Mineral Exploration Trust for exploration and enhancing capabilities

In an Executive Committee (EC) meeting held by the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) and Ministry of Mines, projects of mineral exploration and enhancing institutional capabilities in exploration worth US$ 18.7 million (Rs.154.84 crores) were approved.

The mineral exploration projects include graphite, iron, coal, zinc and associated minerals, bauxite, base metals, phosphorite/glauconitic sandstone, chromium, nickel, cobalt, tin and associated minerals, manganese and limestone to boost the mineral exploration in the country.

The financial assistance for enhancing mineral exploration and institutional capabilities of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), and State Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) was also approved. These mineral exploration projects and financial assistance to the exploration agencies will provide auctionable mineral blocks to the nation and will help in realizing the Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the mining sector.
