Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics & Information Technology Mr. Jitin Prasada concluded his official visit to Morocco after co-chairing the 7th India–Morocco Joint Commission, which provided fresh momentum to bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation. Bilateral trade reached around US$ 4 billion in 2025, with both countries agreeing to work towards doubling bilateral trade over the next five years. An India–Morocco Joint Working Group will also explore the feasibility of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and examine tariff and non-tariff barriers. Cooperation will be expanded across fertilisers, chemicals, mineral resources, machinery, automotive, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energy, mining, digital transformation and other sectors.
At the Morocco–India Business Forum, Mr. Jitin Prasada invited Moroccan businesses to invest in India and highlighted opportunities in automotive and EV components, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, start-ups, fintech, fertilisers and chemicals, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. The two countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation in sustainable agriculture, food security, digital agriculture, biotechnology and agricultural value chains, while an MoU between Morocco’s ONSSA and India’s FSSAI will support cooperation in food safety. The visit also reaffirmed the strategic OCP–India partnership in phosphates and fertilisers, supporting India’s fertiliser supply chains.
