Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal is expected to visit UK on July 10 and 11. The Minister's visit would be focused on the ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between India and the United Kingdom. He will also meet with ministers from EFTA member countries (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) to examine the status of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) with EFTA.

The TEPA intends to improve trade and economic cooperation between India and EFTA member nations by creating an environment favourable to more investment, lower trade barriers, and increased market access.

The visit comes at a critical point, as both India and the UK are dedicated to boosting economic ties and exploring options for increased bilateral trade.

The visit seeks to further propel the FTA negotiations and pave the way for a comprehensive and mutually advantageous agreement that will promote economic growth and deepen ties between the two countries.

During his visit, the Commerce and Industry Minister will hold high-level discussions with his UK colleagues, including the Secretary of State for International Trade, as well as leaders from numerous sectors and industries.

These discussions will provide an opportunity to explore the core aims and objectives of the FTA negotiations, with an emphasis on removing trade barriers, encouraging investments, and fostering stronger cooperation in areas such as technology, innovation, and intellectual property rights.
