Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated 5.21 lakh dwellings of beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY)-Gramin in Madhya Pradesh. According to him, 2.5 crore residences have been built throughout the country under the PMAY scheme, with two crores in rural regions. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, attended the event from Chattarpur in the state.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi also stated that six crore families in the country have been provided with potable water tap connections through the Nal-Jal scheme. In addition, the current government has cancelled almost four crore bogus ration cards in the country since 2014 to avoid the theft of food grains worth billions of rupees destined for the needy. He also urged people to pledge to build 75 'amrit sarovars' (ponds) in each district of the country during the next 12 months, as the country celebrates its 75th year of independence.
