Goa recorded 61.38 lakh tourist arrivals between January and July 2026, including 59.02 lakh domestic visitors and 2.36 lakh international visitors, according to the state tourism department. Overall tourist footfall during the first seven months increased 0.08% year-on-year, while July alone recorded 6.94 lakh arrivals, registering a 2.27% increase compared with July 2025. The July performance indicates continued tourist demand during Goa’s monsoon season, traditionally considered an off-peak period for the state. The state is focusing on expanding tourism beyond traditional beach holidays by diversifying its offerings and attracting visitors across different seasons. Tourism initiatives include wellness, heritage, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), adventure, nautical and spiritual tourism, along with gastronomy and workation. These segments are being promoted to broaden Goa’s tourism base and create new reasons for domestic and international visitors to travel to the state throughout the year.
Goa is also working to expand its international tourism footprint by engaging with both emerging and established source markets, strengthening air connectivity and developing targeted tourism products. The state is promoting monsoon tourism and experience-led travel, with a focus on its hinterland, culture, wellness, cuisine, nature and adventure offerings during the green season. The tourism department expects arrivals during the second half of 2026 to benefit from the upcoming festive, leisure, MICE and international travel seasons. The focus on year-round tourism, experience-led offerings and improved international connectivity is expected to support the diversification of Goa’s visitor base and strengthen tourism demand beyond the traditional peak season. The continued growth in July also indicates resilience in the state’s tourism sector despite the seasonal slowdown typically associated with the monsoon.
