The Government has taken several measures to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including women-owned businesses in the nation, as well as to increase participation in MSMEs.
These initiatives include undertaking special drives for registering women-owned MSMEs under the UDYAM Registration Portal during 2022-23 and more than two lakh women-owned MSMEs have registered on the portal during the special drives. It also includes an amendment of the Public Procurement Policy in 2018, a 10% concession in annual guaranteed fees, 10% additional guarantee coverage of up to 85%. Furthermore, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is being implemented, along with ‘Skill Upgradation & Mahila Coir Yojana’ under Coir Vikas Yojana. A SAMARTH initiative has also been launched to support women-owned MSMEs for skill development and market development assistance.
In addition, the Government has also taken a few recent initiatives under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to support the MSME sector for all categories including women in the country especially COVID-19.
