While inaugurating the seventh edition of the two-day Invest MP Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Indore, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi rephrased the tagline of Madhya Pradesh (MP) and said, “MP ajab bhi hai, ghazab bhi aur sajag bhi”. He added that the state would play a vital role in the development journey of India.
He said that India is receiving foreign direct investment (FDI) because of democracy, demography, and a stable political climate. Further, he said that the path of reform, transform, and perform, undertaken since 2014, has never stopped. He asked the industrialists to take advantage of the production-linked incentive schemes (PLI), particularly for the pharmaceutical and textiles sectors. The Prime Minister also highlighted the speed of construction of the national highways which had jumped two-fold in eight years. Additionally, he also mentioned the digital infrastructure, new opportunities with 5G, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence in India.
He said that the national single window system has given over 50,000 clearances in the past few months, and some of the approvals have been granted for MP’s projects.
Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of MP, stated that 10 partner countries have joined the GIS, along with Ambassadors and Consulate Generals from 33 countries and business delegates from 84 countries. The 10 countries are Guyana, Suriname, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Panama, and Fiji. He said that the state’s growth rate is 19.76%, which is the highest in the country and the state’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of India has increased to 4.6%. There has been an increase in MP’s total GDP to US$ 150 billion (Rs. 12 trillion) and the per capita income to US$ 17 billion (Rs. 1.37 trillion). Furthermore, he said that the target is to make MP a US$ 550 billion economy by 2026-27. MP has about 200,000 acres of land and the investors can be given land in 24 hours. Moreover, MP has an installed capacity of 25,800 megawatts of electricity, he added.
