In order to strengthen the trade fair ecosystem, promote industry, entrepreneurship, and regional arts and crafts, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal, called for more trade fairs to be held at the national and state levels. He was addressing the crow after officially opening the 41st India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi.
The Minister proposed holding the Trade Fair twice a year, with the second event centred around the subject of "Atmanirbhar Bharat," displaying India's swadeshi potential and its burgeoning strength. He said that women, MSMEs, small business owners, exhibitors from the service sector, and new exhibitors must be encouraged to participate in this Swadeshi expo. In order to assure greater involvement, it must also be inexpensive, he added.
Mr. Goyal believed that in order to promote regional handicrafts and handlooms, regional fairs needed to be held all across the nation, particularly in conjunction with holidays and busy travel times. He continued, "These regional fairs must also concentrate on enhancing packaging and design components."
