The Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal met with his counterpart Ms. Kemi Badenoch, to discuss the development of the India-UK free trade agreement (FTA) in London.
Mr. Goyal said in a tweet that “(We) discussed how both sides can add further momentum to the India-UK FTA negotiations for a mutually beneficial deal”.
Mr. Goyal was in the United Kingdom for a two-day visit that began on July 10, with India hoping that the visit will accelerate discussions and pave the way for a comprehensive and mutually advantageous agreement.
So far, 14 of the 26 policy topics have been substantially closed for talks, while other chapters have made significant progress. The 11th round of negotiations is presently underway in London.
